Pearls Of Wisdom

Post  Lacra on Fri Dec 04, 2009 5:08 am

* Man's way leads to a hopeless end -- Allah's way leads to an endless hope.
* We don't change Allah's message -- His message changes us.
* When Allah ordains, He sustains.
* Never give the devil a ride -- he will always want to drive.
* He who angers you controls you.

Child of Adam, sell this world for the next and you will profit from them both. But do not sell the next world for this one, or you will lose them both. [Ibn al-Qayyim]

The World is three days: As for yesterday, it has vanished, along with all that was in it. As for tomorrow, you may never see it. As for today, it is yours, so work in it. [Hassan al-Basri]

Each of your breaths is a priceless jewel, since each of them is irreplaceable and, once gone, can never be retrieved. Do not be like the deceived fools who are joyous because each day their wealth increases while their life shortens. What good is an increase in wealth when life grows ever shorter? Therefore be joyous only for an increase in knowledge or in good works, for they are your two companions who will accompany in your grave when your family, wealth, children and friends stay behind.

"I looked at all friends and did not find a better friend than safeguarding the tongue. I thought about all dresses, but did not find a better dress than piety. I thought about all types of wealth, but did not find a better wealth than contentment in little. I thought of all types of good deeds, but did not find a better deed than offering good advice. I looked at all types of sustenance but did not find a better sustenance than patience" [Umar(RA)]
